Using your own file transfer protocol (FTP) program, connect to our server named hood.hctc.com. Your FTP program should prompt you for your username and password and automatically bring you to your directory upon connection to our server. This username and password are the same that you use to log into our dial-up server (your master account). If you want to add a "remote directory" path to your FTP program, simply enter "www". Otherwise, you should be able to see your "www" subdirectory when logged in and you simply place your web pages and images into that directory.
Be sure to copy your web page into the “www” subdirectory of your directory. Make sure your web page is named “index.htm”.
And the web page would come at this Internet address: http://www.hctc.com/~jdoe
When your web page is complete . . . Let us know if you would like a link from our “Residents Pages” to your web page.
If you do not have your own FTP program, we suggest Cute FTP or FTP Voyager. Follow one of the links for more information and free trial downloads.
Your FTP server name is hood.hctc.com. The folder for your web content is www.
NOTE: Hood Canal Communications supports Microsoft's Frontpage Extensions. If you require Front Page Extensions, please call 898-2481 and request the service for only $4.95 per month ($25 setup fee). We do not allow FTP connections to our Front Page server so you have to have Microsoft's Front Page program to use this server. To log into the Front Page Server to update your website using Microsoft Front Page, go to "File", "Open Web", then type in your website's address including the "http://". Then simply enter your username and password to gain access to publish your site.
