Bruce Jorgenson has announced he is running for his fourth term as Mason County PUD No. 3 Commissioner District No. 3. Jorgenson has served 18 years on the Commission and believes this experience will be beneficial given the long learning curve required to deal with the complex and difficult issues facing public utilities now and in the future. Mason County PUD 3 linemen restored electricity to customers along Cloquallum Road west of Shelton. The outage began shortly after 4 AM, when power lines were reported down near the intersection of Cloquallum and White Roads. Electricity was restored by 8 AM. The outage also affected a portion of the Angleside neighborhood in Shelton; however electricity was back online in that area about 45 minutes later. Wind is the likely cause of this outage as gusts as high as 36 MPH have been reported.
The National Weather Service says heavy rain is possible on the southwest facing slopes of the Olympics Monday night and Tuesday and that could lead to flooding on the Skokomish River. Continue reading Possible Heavy Rain Could Lead to Flooding

Gig Harbor and Timberline topped the Shelton Relays Saturday. The Tides won the boys’ meet followed by the Blazers with North Mason finishing third and the host Highclimbers were sixth. Friday, the Belfair Water District Commissioners voted unanimously to fire Dave Tipton. The action came after a 45-minute executive session. Earlier this month, the Water District’s Commissioners placed Tipton on paid administrative leave and asked the Mason County Superior Court to declare his employment contract invalid.
