The Mason County Commission Wednesday was briefed on ways to increase revenue coming to the County. The County’s Director of Support Services, Frank Pinter, explained the possible options for increasing sales tax and property taxes (some tax increases require a vote of the people), mentioned increases to fees for county services, and possibly creating new policies which could lead to fees for responding to false alarms and nuisances. The Commissioners also discussed options to reduce costs including reconsidering eligibility for medical benefits.

The Commissioners are dealing with limited cash reserves, a topic that was also discussed Wednesday.  Only audio is available for the briefing on reserves.

No decisions were made and the Commission will continue to discuss the possibilities during a retreat scheduled for 9 AM next Wednesday, February 22nd.

MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will be streaming that retreat live.
