The Shelton boys’ basketball team hung with the second ranked team in the state for the first half Thursday but Lincoln pulled away in the second half as the Abes beat the Highclimbers 79 to 48 in the first round of the 2018 Class 3A West Central / Southwest District Boys’ Basketball Tournament. Lincoln had four players score in double digits as the Abes took advantage of 23 Shelton turnovers. Emmett Linton led the way with 17 points. Le’Zjon Bonds added 11. And Willie Thomas III and Mykel Campbell each scored 10 points.

Lincoln faces Capital Saturday at 12 PM.

For the Highclimbers, they were led by Ty Thompson and Jason Kenyon who scored 10 points each. Noah Benson hit three three-pointer to finish with 9. Casey Badillo-Brown chipped in 8. Tyler Auld, Travis Colbenson and Zach Jonker had 3 points each. And Malik Freeman hit a basket in the first quarter.

Shelton drops into the consolation bracket of the double elimination tournament. The ‘Climbers play Lakes Saturday at Rogers High School in Puyallup. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast the game live. Tip off is 12 PM. The Maple Glen Senior Living Pregame Show will start at 11:45 AM.
