Auditions Being Held for Missoula Children’s Theater
For more than twenty years, the Shelton Kiwanis Club has teamed up with Missoula Children’s Theater (MCT) for an exceptional performing arts program. MCT, the nation’s largest touring children’s theater visiting nearly 1,300 communities this year alone.
On March 12, the tour team will arrive in Shelton with a set, lights, costumes, props, and make-up – everything it takes to put on a play…except the cast. This year’s performance is an original adaptation of “Gulliver’s Travels”. The adaptation is written and conceived by, with music and lyrics by, Michael McGill.
Local school-age children are invited to open auditions on Monday, March 12 at the Shelton High School Student Union Building; doors open at 3:00 p.m. and auditions will begin at 4:00 p.m. The show will be rehearsed throughout the week for public performances at the Shelton High School Performing Arts Center on Saturday, March 17 at 3:00 and 7:00 p.m.
The Shelton Kiwanis Foundation believes that participating in the performing arts hones important characteristics such as creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem. With the generous support of our sponsors and through community ticket sales, this youth education and enrichment program is offered at no cost to the students.
Kiwanis empowers communities to improve the world by making lasting differences in the lives of children. The Kiwanis Club of Shelton, Washington has been serving Mason County since 1924 and provides support to a variety of community efforts, particularly focusing on youth and education programs.
