The search for Pioneer School District’s next superintendent is moving along. Officials with Northwest Leadership Associates – the firm helping the district with the search – spent Tuesday talking with staff, students and community members to hear feedback on the desired characteristics of the next person to head the non-high school district. The information gathered also helps Northwest Leadership Associates develop the position description and leadership profile.

MasonWebTV Powered by HCC sat down with Dr. Roger Rada and Dr. Glenys Hill after the pair heard from a handful of community members Tuesday night.

The community forum helps the firm hear specifics they can’t quite get from an online survey.

There was open discussion before each attendee was asked to write down their answers to five specific questions:

There wasn’t a large turnout for Tuesday night’s community forum but according to Rada and Hill that is typical for districts that have good standing with residents.

Dr. Rada and Dr. Hill will be compiling the information gathered Tuesday and will submit a report to the Pioneer School Board in the next few days. Residents interested in adding their feedback, can email their answers to the questions to Lynn Chakos: The online survey will remain available until the April 9th application deadline.

Northwest Leadership Associates will screen applications on April 16th and submit a list of finalists to the school board. Interviews will be held the following week which will include public participation in some form. The goal is to have a new superintendent selected by the end of April.

Pioneer’s current superintendent, Marty Brewer, has been hired as superintendent of the Port Angeles School District. Brewer starts that position in July.

It is worth noting that Northwest Leadership Associates conducted the search for the Port Angeles School District. The firm also found superintendents for Olympia, Arberdeen, Hoquiam and North Beach.
