Shelton Softball Picks Up 1st SSC Win, Losses for Baseball & Tennis; Losses for NM Baseball & Tennis
The Shelton fast pitch softball team picked up its first South Sound Conference win Monday beating Central Kitsap 13 to 2 in six innings.
The Highclimbers were led by Alex Walters who went 3 for 4 at the plate with two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored. Walters also picked up the win, pitching six innings allowing two runs on five hits while striking out four and walking three.
Malina Stephens was 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored.
Patricia Dugger went 1 for 2 with an RBI and scored two runs.
Emily Morris was 1 for 3 with an RBI.
Rosemary Hughes was 2 for 3 with a run scored.
Taya Gouley and Kam Hyland were both 2 for 3 and each scored two runs.
Maleah Walsh was 2 for 4 and scored a run.
Shelton got to the Cougars early, scoring seven runs in the 1st inning and closed out the game with four runs in the sixth. Walters batted in two runs in both inninngs and scored the ‘Climbers’ 12th run to trigger the 10-run mercy rule. Dugger scored Shelton’s 13th run.
The Highclimbers improved to 3-and-8 on the season, 1-and-6 in the SSC. Shelton is off until next Monday when they travel to Yelm.
The Shelton baseball team was held to two hits and lost at Gig Harbor Monday 6 to 0. Max “Falcon” Johnson and Matthew Osberg had the Highclimbers’ hits. Shelton dropped to 6-and-9 on the season, 3-and-6 in the SSC. The ‘Climbers host the conference leading Tide Tuesday.
The Shelton girls’ tennis team lost at Black Hills Monday 5 to 1. The Lady Highclimbers travel to Yelm Tuesday.
The North Mason baseball team lost at Port Angeles Monday 7 to 2. The Roughriders jumped on the Bulldogs early scoring four runs in the 1st inning and two runs in the 2nd. The boys from Belfair got their runs in the 6th inning on a sacrifice fly by Mason Fisher and in the 7th inning on a single by Brenden Kimball. Troy McCormick was 2 for 4 at the plate and Caden North was 1 for 3 with a double. North Mason dropped to 6-and-7 on the season, 3-and-4 in the Olympic League. The Bulldogs host Sequim Wednesday.
The North Mason golf teams lost to Sequim Monday. The Lady Bulldogs fell 222 to 199 and the boys from Belfair fell 392 to 317. NM host Port Angeles at Lakeland Village Golf Course Tuesday.
