One Injured in Chain Reaction Crash
One person was injured in a three-car chain reaction crash on U.S. Highway 101 near the Cloquallum Road overpass Wednesday morning.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the cars (a 1992 Honda Accord, a 2000 Saturn LS1 & a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu) were northbound on 101 about 10 AM. At milepost 347, the Saturn and the Chevy came to a stop while the Honda did not. The Accord hit the rear of the Saturn which was pushed into the rear of the Malibu. The highway was partially blocked for an hour.
The driver of the Saturn, a 43-year-old Lacey woman, was injured and transported to Mason General Hospital in Shelton. A 2-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy in the woman’s car were not injured but were also taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The Honda and the Saturn were totaled. The Malibu sustain “reportable” damage but was driven from the scene.
A press memo indicates that the cause of this crash was following too close by the driver of the Honda. That 17-year-old male from Hoodsport was cited.
