SHS EvCo Track Results; Losses for SHS & NM Softball

In the Evergreen Conference Track and Field Championships at Centralia High School, the Shelton girls’ finished 4th and the Highclimber boys were 5th.

Shelton was led in the meet by Alauna Carstens who won the girls’ 1600 with a personal record time of 5:09.99a and won the 3200 with a time of 11:12.02a.
Ali Clifton followed Carstens in both events coming in 2nd in the 1600 with a time of 5:39.38 and 2nd in the 3200 with a time of 12:17.81a.
Jacob Miller placed 2nd in the boys’ 1600 meters with a time of 4:45.45a and 3rd in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:30.74a.
Mario Boxley finished 2nd in the boys’ discus with a personal record throw of 135-03.

Kaden Pearson was 3rd in the boys’ 100 meters with a personal record time of 11.47a, and 3rd in the 200 meters with a time of 23.60a.
The girls’ relay team of Delfina Ramirez, Quin Neal, Annalise Barkman, and Kennadi Ward finished 3rd in the 4 x 200.
The boys’ relay team of Cameron Huisingh, Nathan Gomez, Bradley Eleton, and Kaden Pearson took 3rd in the 4 x 100.
The boys’ relay team of Gabriel Menefee, Landon Bursch, Nathan Gomez, and Kaden Pearson was 3rd in the 4 x 400.

The Highclimbers host the Class 2A District 4 Track and Field Championships next Friday.

The Warriors exploded for 14 runs inthe third inning, batting around twice to put the game out of reach.

The Highclimbers scored their runs in the bottom of the third. Allison Baumgart singled in Addy Stephens. Kayla Zembas doubled in Emma Schultz and Baumgart. And Danyka Squire batted in Zembas.

Allison Baumgart was 2 for 3 at the plate with a double and and RBI. Kayla Zembas went 1 for 3 with a double and two RBI. Danyka Squire was 1 for 2 and batted in a run. And Addy Stephens and Emma Schultz each added a hit.

Shelton finishes the season with a 5-and-16 overall record, 4-and-14 in the Evergreen Conference.


The North Mason fast pitch softball team was held to one hit and lost their regular season finale at North Kitsap Friday 5 to 2.

The Vikings scored their first run in the bottom of the first inning and it wasn’t until the fourth inning when the Bulldogs got on the board. After a ground out by Sarah Pruitt to lead off the inning, NK walked Audrey Johnson, Tuesday Palmer, Alyssa Hatfield and Jenna Markuson to tie the game at one. Mandy Cole then gave the girls from Belfair the lead with an RBI single.

North Kitsap retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth taking advantage of North Mason errors. The Vikings extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth.

The Bulldogs finish the regular season with an 11-and-8 overall record, 8-and-6 in the Olympic League. North Mason is currently fourth in the standings, a half game ahead of Sequim which has one game left to play. If the Wolves beat Olympic (the League’s number three team) Saturday, NM and Sequim would be tied for fourth. The top five teams make the District 2/3 Tournament.
