Nighttime drivers on State Route 302 at Little Minter Creek will want to plan for additional travel time.

Starting tonight, Wednesday, Aug. 3 through Friday, Aug. 5, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will detour passenger vehicles around the work zone on State Route 302 at Little Minter Creek. The detour will be in place each night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day. Passenger vehicles will detour around the work zone using 118th Avenue Northwest, Creviston Drive Northwest, 134th Avenue Northwest and Key Peninsula Highway Northwest.

What is happening

Crews installing two culverts to improve fish migration under SR 302 at Little Minter Creek are using a large crane to install pilings in the work zone. The size of the crane requires it to be located on SR 302 for this work. To reduce long wait times and backups, passenger vehicles will detour around the work zone at night while large trucks will be flagged through the work zone.

During the day, Key Peninsula travelers will see minor delays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday throughout the summer and early fall.
