High School Sports Results from 3/16/23

Win for NM Baseball; Loss for NM Soccer; MMK Track Results

The North Mason baseball team scored five runs in the six inning and knocked off Kingston 5 to 2 Thursday.

After the Buccaneers got a run in the first inning, neither team was able to score runs until the bottom of the sixth when the Bulldogs’ bats came alive.

Dylan Prideaux and William Broughton singled to start the inning. Jake Mathews batted in Prideaux for NM’s first run to tie the game at 1. Caden Atencio doubled to give the Bulldogs a 2 to 1 lead. Cole McCormick followed with an RBI single making the score 3 to 1. Leland Lopes reached first on a error while Caden Atencio scored (4 to 1). And after a strike out and a hit batter, Skyler Mclean batted in McCormick and North Mason led 5 to 1.

Kingston got one run back in the top of the seventh when Kyler Hedstrom stole home with two out.

The Bulldogs were led at the plate by Caden Atencio who was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Jake Mathews, Cole McCormick, Leland Lopes, and Skyler Mclean also batted runs for NM.
William Borughton earned the win in relief pitching two innings, allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts and a walk.
Boston Stanley was the starter and pitched five innings, giving up one run on two hits, striking out four and walking two.

North Mason improved to 1-and-1 on the season and hosts Coupeville Saturday on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.

The North Mason boys’ soccer team lost at Bainbridge Thursday 3 to 0. The Bulldogs are now 1-and-1 on the season. They host Port Angeles Tuesday.

In track and field Thursday, Mary M. Knight’s Lexi Stamper won the girls’ shot put with a personal record throw of 31 feet, 5 inches and was third in the discus with a personal record toss of 64 feet, 3 inches. Other Owls to compete included Zoe Anderson, Ben Camacho-Vizena, Chase Tupper, Noland Baughman, and Logan Green. The MMK track and field teams will be at Eatonville next Thursday.
