The Shelton boys’ basketball team advanced in the Evergreen Conference playoffs Monday, holding off Centralia 56 to 50.

The Highclimbers slowly built a 14-point lead in the first half and were up 29 to 18 at halftime.

The third quarter saw the Tigers start to rally and pull with in eight and got to with in five late in the fourth.

Shelton maintained that cushion by hitting free throws, going 8 for 12 in the quarter and 11 for 15 for the game.

Chuckie Thompson lead the Highclimbers with 21 points. Tyler Kenyon added 14 – hitting four three-pointers in the first half. And Tyler Ireland finished with 13 points – 10 in the second half.

Shelton heads to top-seeded W.F. West tonight (Tues. June 8th) for the second round of the playoffs. The game is set for 7:30 and can be found on the pay-to-view NFHS Network with the call by Eli Sports.

The Shelton girls’ basketball team’s season came to an end Monday in the first round of the Evergreen Conference playoffs at Aberdeen as the Lady Highclimbers lost to the Bobcats 54 to 34. Shelton finishes the season with a 2-and-11 record. Aberdeen heads to W.F. West for the next round of the playoffs tonight.

The North Mason boys’ basketball team lost to Klahowya Monday 62 to 49. The Bulldogs play Chimicum Wednesday.
