Love In The Name of Christ of Mason County (Love INC) has reported an increase in assistance to people in need during the second quarter of this year. Love INC of Mason County is a 501(c) (3) non-profit which mobilizes local churches in Mason County to assist people in need. According to a news release, Love INC volunteers helped a total of 741 calls from the community which was a 74% increase over the first quarter total of 545. That brings the mid-year total to 1,286 calls. With 318 referrals to churches, resources, and agencies in our community in the second quarter, and 318 in the first quarter, Love INC reports a combined total of 544 referrals in their mid-year report. Assisting a total of 364 adults (167 in the first quarter and 197 in the second) and 305 children (126 in the first quarter and 179 in the second), Love INC was able to serve 255 files in the first half of 2013. At this time last year, 185 files were closed out, which translates to an increase of 72% in our outreach over 2012. The first half of 2013 logged in 721.5 volunteer hours through Love INC Clearinghouse and Gap Ministries (a value of more than $15,000).
