Jay Hupp has announced he will run for Port of Shelton Commissioner Position 1. Hupp served six years on the Port Commission but lost re-election to the Position 3 seat in 2013. The Position 1 seat is currently held by Tom Wallitner who announced in January he was seeking re-election. In his announcement for candidacy, Hupp sites his 30 years local experience in business development and six years as a former port commissioner as top qualities. On his website, JayHupp.com, he explains his motivation: “…to continue my previous six years of service to the Port in an orientation toward community betterment through job creation.” Candidate filing begins May 11. There are two seats on the Port of Shelton Commission up for election this year: Position 1 and Position 2 which is currently held by Dick Taylor.
