Mason County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homeowner who shot and killed an intruder Saturday morning near Trails End Lake. According to Lt. Travis Adam, deputies were called to the home on E. Trails Road about 8 AM after the homeowner reported the shooting. 
After contacting the homeowner, deputies found the intruder, a white male, deceased inside. Adam told MasonWebTV Powered by HCC that the homeowner is cooperating with authorities.
The homeowner owns two adjacent properties. One of the properties is his home and the other is used for his business. When he arrived at the business he found the front door kicked in. .
“He went inside and found an intruder,” Lt. Adam explained. “At some point he shot the intruder with a handgun.”
What led to the shooting is not known and the investigation is ongoing.
