The Mason County Prosecutor’s office has formally charged the man who shot and killed an intruder in the shower of his home based business Saturday with Murder in the First Degree. Prosecutors also added a firearm enhancement to the charge against 59-year-old Bruce F. Fanning on Wednesday.
According to court documents, Fanning entered the business poperty adjacent to his residence Saturday and discovered 31-year-old Nathanial Rosa of Bothell in the shower. Fanning told detectives he was afraid and thought Rosa was drunk. Instead of calling 911, fanning went to his residence, got a .40 calibar handgun, returned the business and shot Rosa three times.
Authorities say that the evidence in this case does not support self-defense.
If convicted, Fanning faces life in prison.
