The Port of Dewatto held a public forum Saturday. Some 35 residents gathered to share ideas on the future of the Port which the Port Commissioners will use to update their Comprehensive Plan.
Many in attendance voiced concerns about the Port’s campground – many asking for it to be closed; some asked the Port not to expand facilities; others want to see the Port take steps to keep Dewatto rural and possibly limit access to locals only. All seemed supportive of an idea to build a helipad at the Port and expand their emergency training abilities.
No decisions have been made and additional meetings on updating the Port’s Comprehensive Plan will be held.
The next Port of Dewatto Commission meeting is 6 PM Wednesday April 19, 2017.
