Additional cases of some one breaking into houses and watching young women while they sleep have been reported. The following is a news release on the latest incidents:
Early Thursday morning, a female Shelton resident awoke to see an unknown male intruder in her bedroom. When she alerted her boyfriend, who was sleeping next to her, the suspect fled. The victim immediately called 911 to report the incident to Shelton Police Department.
During the early stages of the investigation, a Shelton detective contacted neighbors and friends near the crime scene. The detective discovered there had possibly been additional incidents with similar circumstances that were not reported to law enforcement. Within hours, the detective had uncovered six similar incidents in Mason County, and the City of Shelton that occurred over the last several months. Currently, the Shelton Police Department is working with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office as well as our other law enforcement partners to investigate these crimes.
The victims provided a limited description of the suspect who is described as approximately 5’ 10”- 6” ft. tall, medium to thin build, dark shaggy hair, wearing dark clothing and a zip up hoodie sweatshirt. The suspect most likely entered the residences through unlocked doors in the early morning hours.
The victims have been females between the ages of 17 – 22 who live with other people. They all work in the service industry and are very active on social media, specifically Facebook.
The Shelton Police Department and the Mason County Sheriff’s Office want to remind residents to follow a few simple safety guidelines:
