Two of the Shelton City Commissioners addressed the idea of decreasing salaries Monday night. For the second time in a month, a citizen, Marilyn Vogler, asked the Commission to reduce their salaries.
In early September, MasonWebTV Powered by HCC learned the Shelton City Commissioners have the fourth highest salary in the state behind Seattle, Tacoma and Everett. 
The City Commissioners are paid $1300 a month plus $70 per meeting (maximum annually $25,400) and benefits. Mayor Gary Cronce and Commissioner Tracy Moore explained they didn’t set the salary and treat the part time position as a full time job.
The issue will be taken up after the November 7th General Election as there is a measure to change the three-member commission to a seven-member council on that ballot.
A current election official is not able to change their compensation. They can only change the salary for the next person elected to that seat.
