There are wildfires burning in Mason County and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has established an Incident Response Team at Olympic Middle School in Shelton.
The King’s Landing Fire (reported about 4:30 PM Monday) is between Phillips Lake and Timber Lake off Bertelsen Road in the Agate area, has burned 62 acres, is about 30% contained and there is a TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) for that area due to unauthorized drones hampering arial firefighting efforts.
The Brockdale Fire started Monday at 10 PM, has burned 2.78 acres and is 40% contained.
The Harstine Heights Land Fire on Harstine Island started about 4:30 PM Monday and burned about an acre and a half before being knocked down.
There was a fire Saturday night in the area of the High Steel Bridge which was quickly contained.
The California Road 2 Fire (off U.S. Highway 101 between Brockdale Road and Califorina Road) is fully contained after burning about 20 acres. This fire started Friday.
Other fires have been reported and contained around Mason County in the past week as well. Please use caution with all burning material and remember burn restrictions are in place.
