
The Shelton football team picked up its first win of the season Friday knocking off North Thurston 24 to 17.
The Highclimbers used big plays to rally past the Rams to take their first South Sound Conference game since October 17, 2016 (which was also over NT 31 to 21.)
Shelton’s first score was in the first quarter when Charles Hurt took a Luke McPhee pass 70 yards for the touchdown.

Anthony Boren gave the ‘Climbers their first lead, making a diving five-yard TD catch. (Unfortunately the catch was not on camera.)

North Thurston tied the game up with a 30-yard field goal before Boren found the end zone for a second time on a 40-yard run.

Shelton improved to 1-and-8 on the season, 1-and-6 in the SSC. The ‘Climbers wrap up the season at Mt. Tahoma next Friday.
The North Mason football team lost at Port Angeles Friday 12 to 8. Reese Smelcer scored the Bulldogs’ touchdown in the second quarter, running 50-yards with four minutes remaining in the half. Dylan Tupolo added the two-point conversion. However, the Roughriders scored 12 points in the fourth quarter and ended the boys from Belfair’s comeback by recovering a fumble with a minute remaining. North Mason drops to 4-and-5 on the season, 2-and-4 in the Olympic League. The Bulldogs will wrap up the season at Phil Pugh Stadium against Clover Park. The Warriors are also 4-and-5 on the season.
The Mary M. Knight football team lost to Crescent Saturday 86 to 28. The Loggers from Joyce were too much for the Owls building a 34 to 14 lead in the first quarter. Crescent had a 66 to 22 lead at the half. Added 14 more points in the third. And each team had a TD in the fourth. The loss drops the boys from Matlock to 4-and-4 on the season. MMK is second in the 1B Coastal League behind Crescent at 7-and-2. The Owls and Loggers will play again Saturday.
