The majesty of the forest was on display at the Mason County Forest Festival Coronation Saturday, March 9 as royalty for the 75th Diamond Anniversary of the event was crowned in Shelton.

The theme of the 75th Anniversary Forest Festival is “Facets of the Forest” The event is capped by the June 1 Paul Bunyan Grand Parade through downtown Shelton. Many other Forest Festival activities are scheduled Thursday May 30 through Sunday, June 2.

Patti Tupper was introduced as Grand Marshal of the 2019 Forest Festival. She is well-known for her involvement in the community, including a term as president of the Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce; Chamber citizen of the year in 2004, and volunteer of the year in 2011. As past President of Kristmas Town Kiwanis, you have likely run into her collecting gloves, hats and school supplies for Shelton kids.? She also has taken great pride in organizing Holiday Magic and the Christmas parade every year.

Patti was well known as Shelton’s favorite bank manager until 2001 when she and her husband Al started Tupper’s Floor Coverings. They sold their business in late 2017 and now she is spending even more time giving back to our community, including Mason County Veterans.

Emily Simmons, a ninth-grade student at Oakland Bay Junior High in Shelton, won the 2019 Forest Festival button design contest.

She received $100 for the grand prize, and an additional $75 for placing first in her age division (see below for a full listing of the winners in their respective age categories). She is a second time winner. Her design also won in 2017.
