The North Mason School District will hold all classes online in the fall. District Superintendent Dana Rosenbach made the announcement Tuesday, July 28, 2020 and called the decision “difficult” and saying “We are not able to safely offer in-person instruction this fall.”

The email reads:
“Throughout the summer we have shared updates on our reopening plans. Since then, circumstances have changed. Today, we are joining several other school districts in our region to announce a difficult decision. We are not able to safely offer in-person instruction this fall. We will begin the 2020-21 school year in a fully-remote learning model. Unfortunately, COVID-19 cases are on the rise in our state and here in Mason and Kitsap Counties. Health experts have cautioned against repetitive gatherings, like the re-opening of schools, given the escalating spread of COVID-19. While we do recognize the importance of educating our students in person, our priority remains the physical health and safety of our students and their families, our staff, and our community. We’ll be posting answers to frequently asked questions that our families may have about our plans, but we know you may have other questions. We simply don’t have all the answers yet, but we will share them as we can.”
