Fire crews battled a fire on Maple Street in Shelton Sunday night.
According to a news release, Central Mason Fire & EMS (CMFE) received a report of a brush fire on Maple Street at approximately 9:25 PM. A Mason County Sheriff’s Deputy was first on scene and reported that a building was fully involved as well as surrounding brush. The incident was immediately upgraded to a structure fire response which includes water tenders (a type of fire truck that specializes in transporting water from a water source to a fire scene) from mutual aid fire agencies across Mason County.
Immediate fire attack was hampered by downed power lines and the collapse of manufactured home’s steel roof which made access difficult. Initially, the building was thought to be occupied, so life-safety was the first priority but all occupants were eventually accounted for and the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported.
Cause of the fire is under investigation.
Among the agencies to respond to this fire included the Mason County Sherriff’s Office, Mason PUD 3, Shelton Police Department and Fire District’s 4,11,12,13,18 and West Mason Fire.
