Mason County PUD No. 1 and the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) have power outages scheduled for Wednesday, May 26th and Thursday, May 27th that will affect customers at different times.

The BPA has scheduled maintenance which will cause two short, but wide-scale power outages for Mason PUD 1 customers: one outage at 8:00 a.m. for up to 30 minutes on Wednesday, May 26th, and another outage at 10:00 p.m. for up to 30 minutes on Thursday, May 27th for customers in the RED outage section.
PUD 1 also needs a scheduled maintenance outage to replace a regulator in the Hoodsport Substation and remove a danger tree in Lilliwaup along the highway that is ready to come down. The tree is so large that the power lines must be dropped to safely remove it. Highway 101 traffic will be held up briefly until the tree is felled and then our crew will alternate lanes of traffic until the area is cleared, lines are put back up, and power is restored.

1) ALL CUSTOMERS FROM AYOCK BEACH TO WALKER MOUNTAIN will experience BPA’s outages at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26th for up to 30 minutes while they switch power over to another line, and then again at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27th for up to 30 minutes when they switch the power back. We have to take the substation offline and then bring it back online each time.
2) HOODSPORT CUSTOMERS FROM NORTH SHORE RD. TO COLONY SURF will experience a 2-3 hour outage from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26th while crews replace the regulator in the Hoodsport Substation. You will not experience the BPA outage on Thursday, May 27th.
3) LILLIWAUP CUSTOMERS FROM MILE POST 326 to COLONY SURF will experience a 4-5 hour outage from 8:00 a.m. to about 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26th while PUD crews drop the line to remove the danger tree. You will not experience the BPA outage on Thursday, May 27th.
***Estimated outage times may vary a little ahead of schedule or behind schedule depending on circumstances in the field. ***
Customers will receive robo-calls the week before and the day before the outages.
