{Updated 4:30 PM 7/18/2021] A brush fire closed State Route 3 between the north and south ends of Grapeview Loop Road.
According to a news release, crews from Central Mason Fire & EMS responded to the fire off Highway 3 just south of Dawn Drive at 1:50 AM Sunday. At last report, three acres are burning and a dozer line is all the way around it. The fire is currently burning in slash piles and creating significand smoke in the area of Dawn Drive, Grapeview Loop Road and Mason Benson Road.
Heavy equipment operations and fire activity near the roadway closed Highway 3 at both ends of Grapeview Loop Road until about 4 PM.
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has control of the fire and will be on scene through Sunday night. Local resources are also on scene, supporting DNR.
Fire Districts 4, 6, 11, 13, North Mason Fire Authority, West Mason Fire, and Hoodsport Fire assisted Central Mason with this incident.
A cause has yet to be been determined.
