Mason County has lifted some outdoor burn restrictions and as of 12:01 AM Tuesday September 21, 2021 recreational fires in conforming fire pits are allowed. A news release says, “Recently received moisture allows a relaxation regarding recreational fires.” This use of charcoal briquettes, gas and propane barbecues will continue to be allowed under the restrictions. The restrictions on outdoor burning, including land clearing and yard debris fires, remain in effect.

This relaxing of restrictions is similar to last week’s lifting of the campfire ban on all lands and campgrounds within Olympic National Park and Olympic National Forest. The National Park Service says the decision to lift the campfire ban is due to the fire danger moderating with cooler, moist weather and the forecast for significant rainfall.
Lands protected by Department of Natural Resources (DNR) may have different restrictions. To find out more information or determine if you are in a DNR area visit www.dnr.wa.gov or call the South Puget Sound Region at 360-825-1631.
