UPDATE: A second person has died from injuries sustained in the November 9th crash on U.S. Highway 101 at the Cloquallum Road overpass. A 7-year-old boy died at Mary Bridge Hospital on Thursday. The boy was a passenger the VW.


An Arizona man died in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 101 at the Cloquallum Road overpass Tuesday afternoon.

The Washington State Patrol says the three vehicles (a Nissan, a Volkswagen and a Subaru) were northbound on 101 about 3 PM. At the overpass, the Subaru and the VW stopped for traffic but the Nissan struck the VW which then struck the Subaru.

Michael Braxton, 42 of Buckeye, AZ, was a passenger in the VW and he died at the scene. The driver, a 40-year-old woman from Seaside, OR, and two children (a 5-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy) in the VW were injured. The woman and the 5-year-old were transported to St. Peters Hospital in Olympia. The 7-year-old was taken to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma.

The driver of the Nissan, a 56-year-old Shelton woman, a 10-year-old boy and an 8-year-old boy were transported to Mason General Hospital in Shelton.

The driver of the Subaru, a 60-year-old Shelton man, was not injured.

Cause of the crash is under investigation.
