[VIDEO] The Board of Commissioners for Mason County Fire District 12 fired their fire chief Tuesday. The action to “dismiss” Chief Kelli Walsworth “without cause” followed a 20-minute executive session near the end of the Fire Commissioners’ monthly meeting.
Commissioner Brian Jutson made the motion which passed unanimously. Commissioner Albert Wilder said the action was taken because “the community wanted a new fire chief” and he “highly” doubts it was the right choice. Wilder also explained that the Chief will continuing helping with the Fire District’s ongoing state audit.
A statement on the Fire District’s website, https://www.mason12.com/, says all volunteers resigned after the dismissal of the fire chief:
As of 4/19/2022 District #12’s Fire Chief Kelli Walsworth was dismissed without cause, due to wishes of community. In response ALL volunteers resigned effective immediately there is no Aid or Fire response available. Should you need to call 911 be prepared for an extended wait time as Central Mason Medic One will be responding from Shelton. It is very unfortunate that it has come to this. Please be careful out there!
