One person died and four were injured in a two-vehicle head-on collision Saturday night on U.S. Highway 101 near State Route 102.

The Washington State Patrol says a southbound SUV crossed the center line of U.S. 101 just north of SR-102 and struck a northbound car head-on about 7:30 PM. The driver of the SUV fled the scene when law enforcement arrived but was later apprehended.
A passenger in the car, identified as Dorothy A. Glover, 91 of Hoodsport, died at the scene of the crash.
The 62-year-old Hoodsport woman driving the car was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The other two passengers in the car, both Hoodsports men, were injured. One was taken to Mason General Hospital in Shelton. The other was transported to St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.
The driver of the SUV, a 25-year-old Shelton man, was transported to Mason General Hospital before being booked inot Mason County Jail as a press memo indicates drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash and says DUI was the cause. The driver of the SUV faces multiple charges including vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, felony hit-and-run, and DUI.
