Brush Fire on California Road

Fire crews responded to a brush fire on California Road Saturday night.

At approximately 7 PM, West Mason firefighters were dispatched to the report of a 20-foot by 20-foot fast moving brush fire on California Road. When the first units arrived, they located a 200-foot by 200-foot fast moving brush fire on the north side of California Road about a quarter of a mile west of U.S. Highway 101. Crews quickly conducted hose operations and stopped the forward progression of the fire.

Other responding departments included Mason County Fire District 11, Mason County Fire District #4, Mason County Fire District 6 , Hoodsport Fire and EMS, Central Mason Fire & EMS, and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.
