On June 1, 2023, Mason County Fire District 11 consolidated into Central Mason Fire & EMS. The consolidation was mutual and will help both agencies and our citizens. Together we can better serve our communities providing fire protection as well as basic and advanced life support. The amazing staff and volunteers from Mason 11 came on board with Central Mason and will continue to serve.

With the merger, we are more efficiently able to serve in many areas, managing critical roles required within the fire service. Central Mason has a strong leadership of overhead personnel including a Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, Division Chief, three Battalion Chiefs, a Captain of Training, and multiple Lieutenants working on each shift. Central Mason also has a full-time administrative staff of three that handles bookkeeping, payroll, human resources, records management, and more. We have a full-time fire marshal, deputy fire marshal, mechanic/firefighter, and a full-time facilities and maintenance technician. While Central Mason and Mason 11 members have been working and training together for years, combining both departments will allow us to better manage future training plans, required training classes, one-on-one training needs, and management of training records.

Other benefits of the consolidation include large group supply purchases including daily use medical supplies. We consolidated fuel accounts and tracking as well as other mutual business accounts. Consolidating apparatus and equipment helps us to better deploy resources to cover and serve all areas of our district.
