Win for SHS Boys Hoops; Losses for NM Hoops

The Shelton boys’ basketball team won their fourth in a row Tuesday knocking off Centralia on the road 49 to 36. The Highclimbers had an early eight-point lead but the Tigers rallied and took a 21-19 lead at the half. The third quarter was back and forth with neither team leading by more than four points but the ‘Climbers led by two (33-31) heading into the fourth. Shelton held Centralia to five points in the final quarter and the Highclimbers pulled away from the Tigers.
Shelton was led in scoring by Weetly Cordova and Gabe Conklin who scored 10 points each. Cordova was 5 for 5 at the free throw line. Journey Bear Perez and Dante Cruz each added 8 points. And Matt Carleton chipped in 7 points off the bench.
The Highclimbers improved to 5-and-5 on the season, 2-and-1 in the Evergreen Conference. Shelton returns to Terry Gregg Court Thursday to take on Aberdeen on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.

The North Mason boys’ basketball team lost at Sequim Tuesday 70 to 56. The Bulldogs led by seven in the first half but turnovers and easy baskets allowed the Wolves to close to 35 to 33 at the half. The third quarter was back-and-fourth until late in the period when Sequim started to pull away. The Wolves held the boys from Belfair without a field goal for nearly seven minutes (scoring only five points) in the fourth to build a 16-point led and put the game away.
North Mason was led in scoring by Andrew Littrean’s 20 points. Cameron Revelez added 13 points. And Hunter Brown chipped in 10. The Bulldogs drop to 2-and-5 on the season, 1-and-3 in the Olympic League. Their next game is at Olympic Thursday.
The North Mason girls’ basketball team lost to Sequim 68 to 49 Tuesday. The Wolves controlled the game from the start, building a 12-point lead in the first quarter, and were up 36 to 20 at the half. Sequim increased its lead to 19 in the third quarter which NM cut to 9 but couldn’t get any closer.
Adrienne “E” Tupolo led North Mason in the loss with 18 points. Taylor Madison and Natayla Garcia each added 9.
The girls from Belfair drop to 2-and-4 on the season, 0-and-4 in the Olympic League. They host Olympic Thursday.
