Travelers who use State Route 106 in Union, located in Mason County, will need to take alternate routes until further notice.
On Sunday, Jan. 28, a large debris slide covered both lanes of the highway near McReavy Road. Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews have closed the highway at milepost 5.5 until further notice. A detour is in place.
Geotechnical crews will evaluate the hillside Monday, Jan. 29. WSDOT will determine whether the roadway can be reopened at that time.
Travelers in the area are advised to add extra time to travel the detour.
