[VIDEO] Watch the Mason County Fire District No. 12 Commission’s April 7, 2025 special meeting and regular business meeting. The Commissioners started with a discussion on sending a levy lid lift to voters in August. The Fire District is seeking approval to restore its property tax levy to $1.50 per thousand of assessed value. If approved, the funds upgrade apparatus, maintain existing infrastructure and facilities, ensure safety, and improve services while providing funding for long-term goals. These funds would be available to the Fire District in 2027.

During the business meeting, Fire Chief Mike Brown reported that the Fire District is now fully operational despite ongoing mechanical issues. Top action item by the Commission was a motion suspending attorney/client privilege which will allow the FBI to talk with the Fire District’s former attorney as part of the investigation into actions be the previous fire commissioners.
