Win for MMK Baseball; Losses for NM Baseball & SHS Softball

The Mary M. Knight baseball team wrapped up the season Wednesday with its second win of the season, knocking off Wishkah Valley 19 to 9. Specific details on the game were not available. The Owls finish with a 2-and-12 record.


The North Mason baseball team came up short of Olympic Wednesday falling to the Trojans 3 to 2. The game was tied at 1-1 until the bottom of the fourth when Olympic took a two-run lead. The Bulldogs managed to get one run back in the top of the seventh but left the tying run at third base. NM was held to four hits with Boston Stanley going 2 for 3 with a double. Calvin Rice and Reid Shumaker each had a hit. And Caden Atencio batted in a run. Pauli Calafiore pitched six innings for North Mason allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits with three walks and five strike outs. The Bulldogs drop to 9-and-10 on the season, 5-and-9 in the Olympic League, sixth in the standings. The top five teams make the District 3 Tournament but there is the possibility of a at-large seed for NM. Otherwise, North Mason’s season is over.


The Shelton fastpitch softball team was held to two hits Wednesday and lost at Aberdeen 6 to 0. Highclimbers with hits: Hailey Schuffenhauer (a triple) and Kaylee Rix. Shelton now has a 3-and-16 overall record, 1-and-13 in the Evergreen Conference. The Highclimbers wrap up the season at home Friday against Tumwater.
