Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 3 at Mason Benson Road Thursday evening.
The Washington State Patrol says a northbound electric car slowed to make a left turn onto Mason Benson Road when it was struck from behind by a northbound sedan about 5:30 PM. The sedan then struck a southbound pickup truck. The electric car and the sedan came to rest on the northbound shoulder while the truck ended up blocking the southbound lane.
The driver of the sedan, an 84-year-old Sequim man, was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The driver of the truck, a 21-year-old Port Orchard man, was transported to Mason General Hospital in Shelton.
The driver of the electric car, a 39-year-old Lacey woman, and her passengers (a 16-year-old Belfair girl and a 12-year-old Lacey girl) were not injured.
A press memo indicates the cause of the crash was “following too closely” but the investigation continues.
The sedan and pickup were totaled while the electric car sustained “reportable damage”.
