A Flood Watch has been issued for Mason County. The Flood Watch is effective from Thursday afternoon through Saturday morning. Forecasters say flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
The forecast calls for rain at times over the south slopes of the Olympics beginning Tuesday night and continuing through Friday. Elevated snow levels through the same period. Heavier rain beginning Thursday could push the Skokomish river above flood stage as early as Thursday afternoon.
