The initial results from the General Election show most incumbents leading after numbers were released Tuesday night. The most notable exception is in the governing body for Mason Health.

In the race for Mason County Public Hospital District 1 (Mason Health) Commissioner Position No. 1, challenger Pam Schlauderaff leads incumbent Darrin Moody 62.6% to 37.05%. That’s 5,541 votes for Schlauderaff and 3,279 votes for Moody with 31 write-ins.

For Shelton City Council:
Incumbent Eric Onisko (who has been serving as Mayor for the past four years) leads challenger Holly Cahoon by 13 votes for Council Member No. 4. That’s 517 votes for Onisko (50.54%) to Cahoon’s 504 votes (49.27%) with two write-ins.
Incumbent Sharon Schirman leads challenger Kenneth G. Mobley 567 votes (55.59%) to 452 votes (44.31%) for Council Member No. 3 with one write-in.
Incumbent Lyndsey Sapp leads challenger Shaena Barberich 59.05% (574 votes) to 40.02% (389 votes) with nine write-ins for Council Member No. 6.
And incumbent Miguel Gutierrez lead challenger Daniel Velasco 53.25% (540 votes) to 46.15% (468 votes) with six write-ins for Council Member No. 7.

In the contested race for Shelton School Board Director District No. 3, incumbent Matthew Welander leads challenger Gabriel Mora 59.81% to 39.38%. That’s 1,698 voting for Welander and 1,118 voting for Mora with 23 write-ins.

North Mason School District’s renewal of its Educational Programs and Operations Levy is failing with 51.55% against. That’s 1,858 voting “No” and 1,746 voting “Yes”.

In the Pioneer School District:
Robert Clark leads Bill Wells for Director Position No. 3. That’s 1,186 voting (60.55%) for Clark and 752 voting (38.33%) voting for Wells with 22 write-ins (1.12%).
Susan (Soosi) Day leads Michael LD Hill for Director Position No. 5. Day has 1,231 votes (62.49%) to Hill’s 723 votes (36.7%) with 16 write-ins (0.81%).

In the race for Hood Canal School Board Position No. 4, Rebecca Roadman leads Jimmy Harris 791 votes (51.63%) to 734 votes (47.91%) with seven write-ins (0.46%).

Eleven votes separate the candidates in the contested race for Mary M. Knight School Board Director Position No. 1. Kayla Mali has 112 votes (51.38%) while Tracey Ushman has 101 votes (46.34%) with five write-ins (which accounts for 2.29%).

In the contested race for Mason County Fire District No. 13 Commissioner Position No. 1, Brian Core leads Jesse Ogden 77.38% to 22.22%. That’s 195 votes for Core and 56 votes for Ogden with one write-in.

Election officials in the Mason County Auditor’s Office have about 2,400 ballots left to count. Those ballots will be counted at 5 PM Wednesday.
