The results from November 4th’s General Election will be certified on Tuesday and Monday, election officials in the Mason County Auditor’s Office released the result of their last count of ballots with no changes to report.
In the race for Shelton City Council Member No. 4, incumbent Eric Onisko retains his seat defeating challenger Holly Cahoon by 27 votes. That’s 902 votes for Onisko (50.53%) to 875 votes for Cahoon (49.02%) with eight write-ins (0.45%). The difference in the percentage is 1.51% which is over the automatic recount margin of a half percent.
Incumbent Sharon Schirman returns to her Shelton City Council Member No. 3 seat defeating challenger Kenneth G. Mobley 53.95% to 45.71%. That’s 963 votes for Schirman to 816 votes for Mobley with six write-ins (0.34%).
In the race for Shelton City Council Member No. 6, incumbent Lyndsey Sapp retained her seat knocking off challenger Shaena Garberich 58.73% (999 votes) to 39.92% (679 votes) with 23 write-ins (1.35%).
And incumbent Miguel Gutierrez beat challenger Daniel Velasco 54.47% (957 votes) to 44.91% (789 votes) with 11 write-ins (0.63%) for Council Member No. 7.
In the race for Mason County Public Hospital District 1 (Mason Health) Commissioner Position No. 1, challenger Pam Schlauderaff takes the seat from incumbent Darrin Moody 63.13% to 36.49%. That’s 8,342 votes for Schlauderaff and 4,821 votes for Moody with 50 write-ins (0.38%).
In the contested race for Shelton School Board Director District No. 3, incumbent Matthew Welander beats challenger Gabriel Mora 58.12% to 40.99%. That’s 2,671 voting for Welander and 1,884 voting for Mora with 41 write-ins (0.89%).
There are 18 votes separating the North Mason School District’s renewal of its Educational Programs and Operations Levy. The levy failed with 50.17% against. That’s 2,697 voting “No” and 2,679 voting “Yes”.
In the Pioneer School District:
Robert Clark takes the Director Position No. 3 over Bill Wells, 59.34% to 39.59%. That’s 1,719 voting for Clark and 1,147 voting for Wells with 31 write-ins (1.07%).
Susan (Soosi) Day has won the Director Position No. 5 seat over Michael LD Hill, 61.72% to 37.38%. Day has 1,788 votes to Hill’s 1,083 votes with 26 write-ins (0.9%).
In the race for Hood Canal School Board Position No. 4, Rebecca Roadman takes the seat over Jimmy Harris 1,090 votes (51.61%) to 1,011 votes (47.87%) with 11 write-ins (0.52%).
In the contested race for Mary M. Knight School Board Director Position No. 1, Kayla Mali ends up with the seat over Tracey Ushman 53.59% to 44.77%. That’s 164 votes for Mali and 137 votes Ushman with five write-ins (which accounts for 1.63%).
In the contested race for Mason County Fire District No. 13 Commissioner Position No. 1, Brian Core defeats Jesse Ogden 77.4% to 21.39%. That’s 322 votes for Core and 89 votes for Ogden with five write-in (1.2%).
Election officials counted 18,300 ballots from this election, making the turnout 38.26%. The election will be certified at 4 PM Tuesday November 25, 2025.
