Mason Health honors November Employee of the Month Holly Laaksonen, RN, at Mason Clinic.
Mason Health is proud to recognize Holly Laaksonen, RN, as its November 2025 Employee of the Month. Holly serves as the Lead Registered Nurse at Mason Clinic, where her dedication to patient care and team support exemplifies Mason Health’s mission to provide exceptional healthcare close to home.
Laaksonen’s journey into nursing was inspired by her family’s commitment to healthcare.
“My great-grandmother was a nurse, and my brother is a paramedic in Mason County,” she shared. “Hearing his stories and the difference he makes in people’s lives opened my eyes to what healthcare can be. That’s what led me to nursing.”
After earning her nursing degree from Olympic College in Bremerton in June 2020, Laaksonen began her career at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, working on the surgical acute and surgical admissions and discharge units. She moved to Shelton in 2015 after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Northwest University in Kirkland and always hoped to join Mason Health.
“I wanted to gain experience in a larger hospital first, but I was drawn to Mason Health’s strong community focus,” she said. “It’s an honor to be part of an organization that gives back so much.”
As a Lead RN at Mason Clinic, Laaksonen plays a vital role in patient care and staff development. She assists with rapid response and code blue situations, supports medical assistants, and conducts Medicare Wellness visits. Laaksonen also leads mock code blue and rapid response drills to ensure staff are prepared for critical scenarios.
“Holly has gone above and beyond since her first day,” said Mykaela Mendez, MA-C, one of Laaksonen’s nominators. “She has taken on projects and helped improve processes. Holly is a hard worker and a great team member; she is always willing to help out where needed. She has a positive attitude and strives to do her best in everything she does—from patient care to projects. Holly is quick at learning new things and completes all her work quickly, while taking on more responsibilities. I’ve been impressed with her exceptional work ethic and have enjoyed having her as a coworker.”
Outside of work, Holly enjoys reading fantasy novels, playing piano, and volunteering at community events like OysterFest. She lives in Shelton with her two chihuahuas and appreciates the close-knit community she serves.
