Losses for SHS & NM Boys’ Hoops; Win for NM Girls’ Hoops

The Shelton boys’ basketball team dropped their season opener Tuesday to Olympic 41 to 38.

The game was close throughout with neither team leading by more than eight points.

The Trojans were led in scoring by Zack Eck’s 19 points (hitting four, three-pointer) and Donovan Weaver’s 14 points.

The Highclimbers’ Masyn Gard scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Sam Parsons and Bennett Henry added 8 points each for the ‘Climbers.

The North Mason girls’ basketball team beat Todd Beamer Tuesday 45 to 27 to open the season. The Bulldogs held the Titans to two points in the first quarter and built a 12-point lead. However, TB cut that to deficit to three in the third quarter before NM pulled away to lead by as many as 23 points. North Mason had balance scoring with Taylor Madison getting 10 points (8 in the fourth quarter), Natalya Garcia and Briana Cuauhtenango chipping in 9 each, and freshman Natalie Wolf adding 8. The Lady Bulldogs open Olympic League play Friday at Port Angeles.


The North Mason boys’ basketball team opened the season with a 87 to 54 loss to North Thurston Tuesday. The Bulldogs couldn’t keep up with a Rams team that hit ten three-pointers in the first half. Cameron Revelez led NM in the loss with 27 points, making 10 of 12 free throws – 8 for 8 in the first quarter. North Mason travels to Steilacoom Thursday before opening Olympic League play at home against Port Angeles on Friday.
