[VIDEO] Tuesday, the Port of Shelton Commission selected FPH Construction out of Bremerton to complete the renovations for the new location of Olympic Ice Cream at the Port’s Peste Business Park. A dozen companies submitted bids to renovate the 11,500 square foot Port-owned building to accommodate the iconic frozen delights maker’s expansion. FPH was selected for their base bid of just over $2.8 Million ($2,823,322). According to Port staff, the bid process wasn’t without its drama.
The Port received $1,750,000 in low interest funding from the Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB). This funding is in the form of a Committed Partnership with Olympic Mountain Ice Cream that includes the renovation of the warehouse building with some office and interior spaces. The Port site was selected due to its availability, size of the building, a loading dock and its proximity to Highway 101. The estimated private investment is at least $1,000,000 with an estimated job increase of 17 permanent jobs to be created over the next five years.
