Wins for Both MMK Hoops Teams & SHS Boys’ Hoops; Losses for SHS Girls’ Hoops & NM Boys’ Hoops
The Mary M. Knight girls’ basketball team cruised past Lake Quinault Friday 74 to 15. The Owls got 18 points each from Cloey Fletcher and Maelynn Nygaard. Fletcher had 12 steals and 6 rebounds. Nygaard grabbed 8 rebounds. Carissa Reeves added 14 points. And Alivia McNair pulled down 7 rebounds (6 offensive boards). MMK improved to 3-and-3 on the season, 2-and-1 in Coastal League play. Mary M. Knight travels to Quilcene Monday.
The Mary M. Knight boys’ basketball team held off Lake Quinault Friday 50 to 46. This game was close throughout and featured five ties and nine lead changes. The largest lead in the game was nine by the Owls in the third quarter. The Elk’s largest lead was four. MMK was led by Ryder Lake’s 22 points and 9 steals. Gabe Walters added 20 points. And Hunter Gilmore-Hulford grabbed 16 rebounds (7 offensive). Mary M. Knight is now 3-and-1 on the season. The Owls play at Quilcene Monday.
The Shelton boys’ basketball team beat Mountain City Christian Academy Friday 68 to 39 in the Sitka High Coastal Shootout. The Highclimbers started fast and built a 16-point lead in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Lions closed to within 8 but the ‘Climbers responded and went up 17 before halftime. Shelton pushed their lead to 23 in the third quarter and led by as many as 32 in the fourth. Four Highclimbers scored in double digits. Brayden Phipps led the way with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Bennett Henry added 12 points and 5 rebounds. Masyn Gard finished with 11 points and 7 rebounds – 5 of which were off the offensive glass. And Sam Parsons chipped in 10 points. Shelton is now 4-and-4 on the season. The Highclimbers wrap up play in Alaska Saturday against Nikiski.
The Shelton girls’ basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Friday falling to Mountain City Christian Academy 69 to 36. The Lions broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Highclimbers 26 to 8. MCCA increased their lead to 33 in the fourth. Shelton was led in the loss by Janelle Krise who scored 26 points and grabbed 8 rebounds (5 offensive). The Highclimbers are now 5-and-1 on the season. They wrap up play in the Sitka High Coastal Shootout Saturday against Nikiski.
The North Mason boys’ basketball team lost at Sequim Friday 64 to 56. The Bulldogs lead for three quarters of the game – by as much as 13 – holding off numerous runs by the Wolves. However, in the first half of the fourth quarter, Sequim went on a 12-3 run to take control of the game. Cameron Revelez led NM in the loss with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Derek Dunham added 10 points and 8 rebounds. And Kingston Serebryakov chipped in 9 points. North Mason drop to 3-and-5 on the season, 0-and-4 in the Olympic League. The Bulldogs are off until January 5, 2026 when they host Fife.
After the first day of the HammerHead Invitational at the Kitsap Pavilion, North Mason has six wrestlers who advanced to the second day of competition with three in their weight’s semifinals.

Camrynn Pike in the semifinal at 170 pounds.
Natalie Roberts is in the consolation bracket at 110 pounds.
Evelyn Talbot is in the consolation bracket at 115 pounds.

Brayden Bourboulis is in the semifinals at 165 pounds.
Johnathon Broughton is in the consolation bracket at 150 pounds.
The invite continues Saturday at 10 AM.
