Wins for NM Girls’ Wrestling & Both MMK Hoops Teams
The North Mason girls’ wrestling team won the 9th Annual Grizzly Stocking Stuffer at Hoquiam High School Monday. The Lady Bulldogs topped the team scoring with 160.5 points (16.5 points better than 2nd place Aberdeen) behind four NM champions and three girls from Belfair placing.
Natalie Roberts won the championship at 115 pounds.
Evelyn Talbot won the championship at 120 pounds.
Brooke Howard won the championship at 140 pounds.
Camrynn Pike won the championship at 190 pounds.
Sydnnie Imlay took 2nd at 130 pounds.
Ariyah Klushi placed 2nd at 140 pounds.
Claire Miccio finished 3rd at 170 pounds.
Mia Amick took 4th at 105 pounds.
Eliya Prichard placed 4th at 145 pounds.
North Mason is off until January 7th when the Bulldogs host all seven Olympic League teams.
The Mary M. Knight girls’ basketball team held Quilcene to one point in the second quarter on their way to a 58 to 18 road win. The Lady Owls were led by Cloey Fletcher who scored 24 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had 8 steals. Maelynn Nygaard added 19 points and 6 rebounds. Andiana Ziegler pulled down 8 rebounds, had 3 steal and scored 2 points. And Carissa Reeves and Bella Buck each chipped in 5 points. Reeved had 4 steals. MMK improved to 4-and-3 on the season. The girls from Matlock are off until January 6th when they return to Coastal League play at Wishkah Valley.
The Mary M. Knight boys’ basketball team handled Quilcene junior varsity Monday 64 to 33. The Owls’ varsity controlled the game from the opening tip building at 22-point first half lead. The Rangers whittled that MMK lead to ten in the second quarter but couldn’t get any closer. Mary M. Knight was led by Gabe Walters’ 13 points. Chase Tupper added 10 points (all in the 3rd quarter) and 7 rebounds. Micah Palmer chipped in 10 points and 4 steals. Freshman Brant Thompson had 9 points. Cash King, also a freshman, contributed 7 points and 10 rebounds (6 offensive board). Ryder Lake added 6 points and 6 steals. And Hunter Gilmore-Hulford finished with 5 points and 10 rebounds. The Owls improved to 4-and-1 on the season. MMK is off until January 5th when they host Crescent.
