Hoops Wins for SHS & MMK Girls, NM Boys; Hoops Loss for NM Girls
The Shelton girls’ basketball team won in Centralia Friday 59 to 46. Specific details on the game were not available. The Highclimbers now have a 14-and-5 overall record, 5-and-3 in the Evergreen Conference. They play at W.F. West on Tuesday and wrap up the regular season at home Thursday against Tumwater.
The Mary M. Knight girls’ basketball team rolled past Wishkah Valley Friday 64 to 12. The Owls defense came out strong, leading to early offensive opportunities on fast breaks. MMK scored 19 points and held the Loggerettes scoreless in the first quarter and led 49 to 7 by halftime. With a more than 40-point spread, the game clock ran the entire second half and every Mary M. Knight player scored.
Senior point guard Cloey Fletcher had an impressive quadruple double on the night scoring 29 points, with 13 rebounds, 13 steals, 11 assists, and two blocks. Senior post Andiana Ziegler had 9 points, 3 rebounds, 4 steals and an assist. Senior Maelynn Nygaard, who broke her right hand last week against Ocosta, played left handed, with a cast on her dominant hand, and had 8 points, 6 rebounds, and a steal.
Junior Bella Buck had 8 points and 4 rebounds, one steal and an assist. Freshman guard Peyton Hughes had 6 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and an assist. Freshman Alivia McNair had 2 points, 3 rebounds, and a steal and an assist. Junior Hayden Hughes added 2 points and 5 rebounds in the win.
The Owls are 9-8 on the season and 5-5 in the Coastal League. MMK hosts Oakville next Wednesday night for Senior Night.
The North Mason boys’ basketball team beat North Kitsap Friday 78 to 55 in Poulsbo. The Bulldogs swept their two-game season series with the Vikings and now have a 7-and-11 overall record, 3-and-9 in the Olympic League. NM plays at Bainbridge on Tuesday.
The North Mason girls’ basketball team lost to North Kitsap Friday 45 to 36.

The Bulldogs trailed the Vikings throughout the game with the girls from Poulsbo building an 11-point led in the fourth quarter. NM cut that to three points but NK was able to pull away behind Jasmine Sunnenberg who hit four three-pointers and finished with 17 points.
North Mason was led in the loss by Taylor Madison’s 15 points and senior Natalya Garcia’s 11 points. The Bulldogs are now 7-and-11 on the season, 4-and-8 in the Olympic League. NM hosts Bainbridge on Tuesday.
