District Win for MMK Girls’ Hoops
The Mary M. Knight girl’s basketball team stayed alive in the 2026 District 4 1B Girls Basketball Tournament Thursday, knocking off Oakville 51 to 38. Senior Carissa Reeves led the Owls with a career-high 17 points (12 of them from the 3-point line) along with 3 steals. Junior Bella Buck added 15 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Senior Cloey Fletcher had 7 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist. Senior Maelynn Nygaard had 5 points with a whopping 15 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Other scorers were Peyton Gonzales 3, Peyton Hughes 2, and Andiana Ziegler and Hayden Hughes with a point each. On February 19th, MMK will play the loser of the semifinal matchup between Wahkiakum and Naselle that has yet to be played (scheduled for February 17th at South Bend High School).
