District Hoops Loss for MMK Girls; Day 1 State Wrestling Results for SHS
The Mary M. Knight girls’ basketball team‘s season came to an end Thursday in the 2026 District 4 1B Girls’ Basketball Tournament as the Owls were eliminated from the tourney by Wahkiakum 50 to 41.

The game was relatively close through the first half. In the third quarter the Mules started to pull away when key MMK players got in foul trouble.
Wahkiakum was led by Payton Mendez show scored a game-high 24 points. Amy Horman finished with 11.
Mary M. Knight’s leading scored was Cloe Fletcher with 14. Bella Buck added 8 points. and Maelynn Nygaard chipped in 7 points. Carissa Reeves had 5. Andiana Ziegler scored 4. Two points for Hayden Hughes. And a free throw for Peyton Gonzales.
The Owls finish the season with a 12-and-12 record.
After the first day of Mat Classic XXXVII – the Class 3A State Wrestling Championships – in the Tacoma Dome, the Shelton girls’ wrestling team is in 8th place with one Lady Highclimber in the championship bracket and two others in the consolation bracket. The Shelton boys’ wrestling team is in 17th place with one Highclimber in the championship bracket and four others in the consolation bracket.

The North Mason girls’ basketball team plays at Kingston Friday in the 2026 District 3 2A Girls’ Basketball Tournament. This consolation bracket loser-out game between the Bulldogs and the Buccaneers is on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC. Tipoff is 6 PM.
The North Mason wrestling teams are sending 12 Bulldogs to Class 2A Mat Classic XXXVII Friday and Saturday in the Tacoma Dome.
