Wins for SHS Soccer & NM Softball; Losses for NM Baseball & Soccer; Another Rainout of MMK Baseball

The Shelton boys’ soccer team edged Tumwater Tuesday 2 to 1 in a match that went to a shoot out and was the Evergreen Conference opener for both teams. The Highclimbers got on the board first in the 26th minute. The Thunderbirds tied the game in the 36th minute. The game remained 1-1 though the second half and two five-minute overtime periods before the shootout in which Shelton won 5 to 4. The Highclimbers pick up their first win of the season, improving to 1-3-and-1, 1-and-0 in EVCO play. Shelton plays at W.F. West Friday.


The North Mason fastpitch softball team pounded out 15 hits on their way to a 12 to 1, six inning win over East Jefferson on Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs were led by Sydnnie Imlay who was 2 for 5 at the plate with at home run and five RBI. Taylor Madison was 3 for 5 with a double and two RBI. Other girls from Belfair who batted in a runs: Kennady Carson, Addyson Roy, Fiona Youngberg, and Elizabeth Henningsen. Freshman pitcher Fiona Youngberg pitched six innings, allowing one run on three hits with six walks and 16 strikeouts.
North Mason is now 2-and-1 on the season. They open Olympic League play Friday at Olympic.


The North Mason baseball team‘s rally from eight runs down came up a run short Tuesday at Sequim as the Bulldogs fell to the Wolves 8 to 7. The boys from Belfair scored two runs in the sixth inning and seven in the seventh and the game ended with the bases loaded.
Danner Jones led North Mason at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBI. Other Bulldogs batting in runs: Calvin Rice with a triple; Reid Shumaker with a double; and Caden Atencio. Johnny Broughton hit a triple and Kingston Serebryakov hit a double.
NM drops to 2-and-1 in the season, 1-and-1 in the Olympic League. North Mason plays Sequim again on Thursday, this time in Belfair.


The North Mason boys’ soccer team lost at Bremerton Tuesday 3 to 1. The Bulldogs drop to 1-2-and-1 on the season, 1-and-2 in Olympic League play. NM hosts East Jefferson Wednesday.


The Mary M. Knight baseball game at Wishkah Valley on Tuesday was rained out. The Owls are scheduled to play Oakville Thursday.
