Wins for SHS Softball & Baseball & NM Soccer; SHS Track Results

The Shelton fastpitch softball team came from behind and beat Centralia Wednesday 15 to 14.

The Highclimber and Tigers battled back and forth throughout the game with the ‘Climbers coming back from a six-run deficit to tie the game at 14 heading into the seventh.
In Centralia’s half of the final frame, Makenzie Erickson led off with a single but Shelton’s Kaylee Rix got the next three batters to fly-out.
In the bottom of the seventh, Riley Rowland led off with a single. Rix popped out. Abi Fauula singled which moved Rowland to second. Cassandra Tyler then hit into an infield fly for the second out. Then Makayla Lee worked the count full and hit a ground ball to left that scored Rowland and Shelton walked off with an Evergreen Conference opening win.
The Highclimbers pounded out 16 hits:
Abi Fauula was 3 for 5 with a double, an RBI and 2 runs scored.
Cassandra Tyler was 3 for 6 with 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored.
Makayla Lee was 1 for 5 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.
Hailey Schuffenhauer was 2 for 2 with a triple, a double, 3 RBI, 3 runs scored and was walked 3 times.
Lexi Rowland was 2 for 4 with and RBI and 2 runs scored.
Emi McFarland 2 for 5 with a home run, 3 RBI, and a run scored.
Riley Rowland was 2 for 5, with a run scored.
And Kaylee Rix was 1 for 3 at the plate and pitched three and two-third innings, allowing one earned run on three hits with two walks and a strikeout.
Shelton improved to 3-and-1 on the season, 1-and-0 in the Evergreen Conference. The Highclimbers host W.F. West Friday on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.


The Shelton baseball team shut out R.A. Long on Wednesday 7 to 0. The Highclimbers held the Lumberjacks to four hits while the Jacks held the ‘Climbers to eight hits. Carl Turnbow, Silas Hoff, Jacob Jacoby, Zane Harding, and Ryan Brady each batted in a run for Shelton. Cam Winans was the only Highclimber with two hits. Daniel Crossan, Jacoby and Hoff each hit a double.
Shelton improves to 4-and-0 on the season. The Highclimbers open Evergreen Conference play on Friday at W.F. West.


The Shelton track and field teams lost at Aberdeen Wednesday. The boys’ teams score was 93 to 28 while the Lady Highclimbers fell 77 to 48.
Top ‘Climber finishers:
Jadyn Smith won the girls’ 100 meters and 2nd in the 200 meters.
Claire Warnock won the girls’ 200 meters, won the 100-meter hurdles, and the 300-meter hurdles.
Addison Aldrich won the girls’ 400 meters,
Carter White won the boys’ 800 meters
Justice Bloomfield won the boys’ 110-meter hurdles.
Bennett Henry won the boys’ javelin.
Robert Rice won the boys’ triple jump.
Aryanna Arnold was 2nd in the girls’ 100 meters and 3rd in the 200 meters.
Cali Ronald took 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles.
Robert Valdeman finished 2nd in the boys’ 800 meters and 3rd in the 1600 meters.
Trayson Bartholomew placed 2nd in the boys’ 1600 meters and third in the high jump
Daryl Williams took 2nd in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles.
Lily Hageman was 2nd in the girls’ javelin.
Katelyn Sartori took 2nd in the girls’ long jump and 3rd in the girls’ high jump.
Trevor Gott placed 2nd in the boys’ high jump.
Kaleb Jordan finished 3rd in the boys’ 100 meters and 3rd in the long jump
Violet Larson took 3rd in the girls’ 400 meters.
Waylon Ogg placed 3rd in the boys’ 200 meters.
Hailee Nadeau was 3rd in the girls’ 800 meters.
Mahala Leclair-Hernandez finished 3rd in the shot put.
Hunter Daggett took 3rd in the boys’ shot put.
Shelton heads to W.F. West on April 2nd.


The North Mason boys’ soccer team beat East Jefferson 6 to 1 on Wednesday. The Bulldogs improved to 2-2-and-1 on the season. NM heads to Kingston on Friday.
